About University

State Maritime Academy named after Admiral Ushakov is the largest institution of water transport and the only institution of higher education in the South of Russia. State Maritime Academy was established in 1975 in Novorossiysk city. Federal State Educational Institution of higher vocational training Admiral Ushakov Maritime University is the largest educational institution of water transport and the only higher educational institution in the South of Russia training marine specialists for shipping companies, building, and shipbuilding plants, works of water transport, ports, and transport terminals.

State Maritime University prepares specialists for the civil and commercial fleet and gives students the opportunity to study marine engineering, study water transport and navigation, and study military sciences.  At present State Maritime University has 7 study faculties and 36 departments. The teaching staff of State Maritime Academy has more than 300 teachers. Among them are 29 doctors and professors, 198 candidates in sciences, and associate professors. Today State Maritime Academy trains more than 4 thousand students. 

The Academy prepares personnel in 14 specialties of higher vocational education. It comprises 5 faculties, 36 departments, the Southern Regional Center of Additional and Vocational Training (SRCAVT), and branches in Rostov-na-Donu, Sevastopol, and Astrakhan. For performing the study process the Academy possesses a study-laboratory complex with a block of lecture rooms and three study buildings, more than 500 laboratories and study rooms, a reading hall for 160 seats, university library with a book store of 300 000 copies. 

During its existence, State Maritime Academy has trained more than 20,000 professionals.

Partners of Admiral Ushakov Maritime University include some universities in China, Australian Maritime College, California State University Maritime Academy, Mokpo National Maritime University, Korea Maritime and Ocean University, and the University of Trade Fleet, Tokyo. Admiral Ushakov Maritime University also has student exchanges with universities of the Toyama Prefecture.

As per the license of the Ministry of Education RF, the University effects training under the programs of secondary education in Russia and higher vocational education and also under programs of additional education in Russia and post-graduate education. The University’s state higher degrees and recognized certificates meet International Conventions requirements and are approved by all countries around the world. Maritime specialties of the Academy are accredited by the European Union and International Maritime Organization.

Accommodation

State Maritime Academy named after Admiral Ushakov is proud of its modern dormitory housing for over 2,000 students. It is supplied with all needed for comfortable living technologies and equipment. The dormitory is surrounded by food stores, shopping centers, and cafes. It gives students the ability to relax after hard work or study.

The hostel is divided into living sections. Every section has from two to four cozy rooms, a common kitchen, a shower, and a bathroom. All rooms are well equipped with all modern facilities, new furniture, bedding, and permanent central heating. Reception, laundry rooms, cleaning and washing personnel, reading rooms, and computer hall are always available for every hostel resident. The cost of living in Russia can be completely affordable making it a comfortable place for living.

About City 

​​Novorossiysk is a city in Krasnodar Krai, Russia. It is the country’s main port on the Black Sea and the leading Russian port for importing grain. It is one of the few cities honored with the title of Hero City. The climate in Russia, in the area of Novorossiysk, is close to the Mediterranean. The average temperature in January is minus 4.3 degrees Celsius, and in July – plus 24.8 degrees Celsius.

The outskirts of Novorossiysk, famous for their picturesque landscapes, are popular among tourists. There are several sea resort areas with a lot of modern sanatoriums and summer camps here. The beautiful Lake Abrau is the pearl of the region – it is the largest and the purest lake in the North Caucasus. Near the lake, you can find the oldest Russian plant for the production of sparkling wines “Abrau-Durso”. The factory has a vine museum and a vine tasting room.

Novorossiysk has several hotels, the largest hotels are “Novorossiysk”, “Brigantine” and “Chernomorskaya”.
