Military Medical Academy S. M. Kirov

General Information
The S. M. Kirov Military Medical Academy is a higher education institution of military medicine in Saint Petersburg and the Russian Federation. Senior medical staff are trained for the Armed Forces and conduct research in military medical services. Military Medical Academy was established in 1798 as the Medical-Surgical Academy and was the first and foremost scientific, educational, and medical center that published the first original Russian medical textbooks.
The Kirov Military Medical Academy has 26 clinics in Russia, 25 operating rooms, 11 institutes, the Outpatient Clinic, the Poison Control Center, the Emergency Department, and the Solid Organ Transplantation Center performing more than 5,000 diverse diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Kirov MMA operates as a part of the Ministry of Defense. Thanks to its military organizational structure and commitment to providing the best, most comprehensive quality medical care in Russia, it has been rewarded and recognized as a medical institution in Russia meeting the highest world standards.
The Kirov Military Medical Academy is an example of successful international cooperation with universities abroad and an active participant in numerous bilateral and multilateral activities in the spheres of civilian and military healthcare. Due to it, students and members of academic staff have the option of internships abroad in famous European and Asian universities. Academy takes part in the deployment of its medical personnel to peacekeeping missions, which is also considered very important for academy ranking. Graduates are commissioned as officers with medical doctor credentials. The institution also provides advanced training for mid-career military medical doctors and trains graduate students at the Ph.D. level.

Accommodation and Housing
Students’ hostels have single rooms and double rooms which are fully equipped for the life and the study process. Canteens offer a variety of dishes at reasonable prices. There are a food market and grocery stores nearby for those who prefer to cook themselves. Students’ cafes, bars, and city parks are popular places for entertainment and outdoor recreation.
Every hostel resident can use every common room in the building, including the library, gym, canteen, and resting rooms. All rooms are well-furnished and ready to use at every time and day. Accommodations are supplied with refrigerators, shared kitchens, reading rooms, studying rooms, a hostel library, and separate bathrooms and toilets. Hostels are under 24/7 CCTV surveillance, so every student can feel safe and comfortable.
