About University 

Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University named after P.A. Solovyov is an Aviation University in the city of Rybinsk. Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University was established in 1932 as Rybinsk Aviation Institute named after S. Ordzhonikidze.

During World War II Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University was evacuated to Ufa city, where after some time Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University transformed into Ufa Aviation Institute. The new aviation university in Rybinsk was opened on the 25th of May in 1955 as an evening Aviation Technology Institute with two faculties – Aircraft Mechanics and Aircraft Technology.

Rybinsk State Aviation ​​Technical University provides training in the design and production of aircraft engines,  study general engineering, study instrumentation, study control of the economy, study socio-cultural service and tourism, study quality management, study information technology, study programming, and study computer technology. Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University currently enrolls over 7,000 students in 23 study departments.

In 1964 Rybinsk State Aviation Technology Institute was reorganized into the Institute with all forms of education – daytime education, evening education, and correspondence education. In 1994, Aviation Technology Institute received status as an Academy. In 2011 Rybinsk Aviation Technical Academy was granted the status of State Aviation Technical University. University provides studying processes at the undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, and doctoral levels of studies.

Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University currently provides studying processes in 23 educational departments. The teaching staff of Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University includes 240 full-time teachers, including 60 doctors and 138 candidates in sciences. Till now Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University has trained and graduated over 24,000 professionals in the fields of technical sciences and studying aviation and aircraft in Russia.

Recognition

In 2021 Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University for the first time joined the global ranking of the best universities in the world. The ranking was produced by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The University was listed as 701st in the ranking of 1300 world-leading educational institutions, and it is 25th in the ranking of 48 Russian universities included in the rating. Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University is the only representative of Rybinsk that received the highest category VH in terms of research activity.

Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University is among the top-ranked universities in the Russian Federation and is recognized by MCI, WHO, and UNESCO. University is enlisted with the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS). It means that accreditation or a higher degree received at Tula State Pedagogical University is valid all over the world and will be recognized in the same light as in the country where it was given.

Accommodation

Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University named after P.A. Solovyova has two comfortable student hostels with a developed infrastructure. The University can accommodate international students and non-city residents. All hostels are protected by the police under CCTV surveillance and every student can feel safe and comfortable during studying in Russia or resting in Russia.  Dormitories are located near the educational buildings (the greatest distance is 10 minutes on foot). 

Students live in shared rooms for 2-3 people with more than 500 total beds in the Hostel. Every student has free access to all hostel rooms including renovated and equipped reading halls with modern technologies and a huge base of informational resources, a cafeteria with the ability to drink coffee and spend time with friends, a gym with new sports equipment,  geyser for hot and cold water and park on the territory of the hostel. 

About City  

Rybinsk is the second largest city in Russia, in the Yaroslavl region, located 82 km from Yaroslavl. The administrative center of the Rybinsk district, which is not included, has the status of a city of regional importance and forms the city district of Rybinsk with the only settlement in its composition. It is located at the confluence of the Volga, Sheksna, and Cheryomukha rivers.

Currently, the historical center with merchant houses, grain exchanges, squares, and architectural monuments is being reconstructed. Rybinsk offers several sanatoriums in Russia and SPA hotels in Russia for rehabilitation. River operators offer cruises in Russia with a visit to the city. Recreation facilities on the Rybinsk reservoir offer options for summer and winter fishing. Active and event tourism is represented by a variety of activities, many of which have become the hallmark of the city.

Rybinsk has a four-season humid continental climate with significant differences between winters and summers. However, the cold winters are still significantly less severe than those found on similar parallels further east in Russia.
