First Saint Petersburg State Medical University (Saint Petersburg State Medical University I.P. Pavlov) is a state educational institution of higher professional education in Saint Petersburg city of the Russian Federation. First Saint Petersburg State Medical University was established in 1897 as the Medical Institute for Women, the first medical institution in Russia and Europe where women were allowed to receive a medical degree.
Today First St. Petersburg State Medical University employs more than 790 members of academic staff who work in 69 medical study departments, 56 research medical laboratories, 11 study institutes, research institutes, and medical centers. The base of the university clinics is located in the university and 43 major university hospitals and university clinics in St. Petersburg. It allows students to boost their practical skills and implement their theoretical knowledge in life.
Every year the First St. Petersburg State Medical University has trained more than 5,000 students, including international students. Around 58,000 specialists have been trained since the formation of First St. Petersburg State Medical University. All graduates can apply for work in Russia’s most popular medical organizations.
The University Teaching Hospital includes more than 100 study medical departments, the Consultative and Diagnostic Center, diagnostic laboratory services, the Maternity Home, and the Blood Transfusion Department. The University staff includes skilled professionals whose medical experience and qualifications are recognized in Russia and abroad. A characteristic feature of our work is a multidisciplinary approach to patient follow-up: at all stages of the follow-up, a doctor is guided not only by the knowledge of his field but also assesses the problem in its entirety and, if necessary, involves other specialists in the patient’s diagnosis and treatment.
Recognition
Traditionally scientific researches are one of the important parts of work in our university and include the main areas of medicine. According to Russian Science Index, Saint Petersburg State Medical University I. P. Pavlov is at the TOP-3 of all medical organizations in the Russian Federation, and in TOP-25 of all medical scientific organizations in our country. The medium of teaching at the University is English. Saint Petersburg Pediatrics Medical University is approved by the WHO and NMC and has an international partnership with many other world-class universities, thus enabling students to participate in student exchange programs.
Saint-Petersburg State Medical University has numerous cooperation agreements and international partnerships with foreign medical organizations: The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (Houston, USA), Democritus University of Thrace (Alexandroupolis, Greece), Belarus State Medical University (Minsk, Belarus), Mhitara Geraci’s Erevan State Medical University (Erevan, Armenia). It allows our students to take a part in international exchange programs.

Accommodation
The hostel facility at First Pavlov State Medical University is known for its comfort and discipline. The student hostels are safe and not too costly. Students get basic furniture and all other essential facilities like laundry rooms, reading rooms, TV rooms, dining areas, lawns, clean washrooms, and bathrooms. Hostels are available for both girls and boys separately. The university truly believes in personality development and thus has faculty for students interested in sports like basketball, badminton, and more. Sanitation and cleanliness gave the utmost care and attention. There is a facility for medical assistance to care for sick students. There are dispensaries and university clinics to help students.
Rooms are shared between 2-3 people and supplied with all needed medical technologies such as cable TV, free Wi-Fi, modern furniture, and central heating. There is a kitchen accessible on each floor giving understudies the alternative of self-cooking.
