About University
Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University is the medical educational institution of higher education in Saint Petersburg (formerly known as Leningrad) city of the Russian Federation. Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University is considered to be the oldest pediatric education institution in the Russian Federation as well as in the world. Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University was formed in 1925 as the Institute of Maternity and Infancy in Leningrad city’s pediatrics hospital complex. In 1994 the institute received the status of the Academy and on April 27, 2012, the academy received the university status and became Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University.
Currently, Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University has 3700 students who are being trained in 66 study medical departments under a staff of 810 skilled teachers. University has over 29,000 students who graduated from Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University and had the ability to study MBBS in Russia.
Saint-Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University provides a high educational level, which guarantees high demand in the labor market. Our students and lecturers are laureates and prizewinners of numerous international and Russian contests. Every year our students take part in contests of scientific works for St. Petersburg Government grants and have success. Traditionally scientific medical researches are one of the important parts of work in our university and include the main areas of medicine and healthcare science. According to Russian Science Index, we are at the TOP-3 of all medical organizations in the Russian Federation, and in TOP-25 of all scientific organizations in our country.
University hospital is a federal medical organization with one of the biggest scientific bases and ancient traditions of Leningrad’s pediatric school. It has modern diagnostic technologies such as multiline computer tomography, MRI, US scanners, installation for radiologists, modern radioisotope laboratory, etc. Clinical laboratories and biochemical laboratories, bacteriological laboratories, and virologic laboratories allow performing the entire spectrum of research at the advanced level. University teachers work at the frontiers of modern science and implement new medical technologies into practice.
Recognition
Saint-Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University related agreements of cooperation and partnership with foreign medical organizations: The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (Houston, USA), Democritus University of Thrace (Alexandroupolis, Greece), Belarus State medical university (Minsk, Belarus), Mhitara Geraci’s Erevan State medical university (Erevan, Armenia). It allows our students to take a part in international exchange programs. This work allows improving our educational level.
Saint Petersburg Pediatrics Medical University has the highest minimum USE scores among all the medical universities in Russia. Accommodation
Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University possesses multiple hostels for its students who wish to live near or on the university campus premises. Saint Petersburg Pediatric Medical University provides its students with renovated hostels in a convenient location. University hostels provide housing for international students. The hostel is situated in the city center, in a very nice area with well-developed infrastructure.
It accommodates almost 3,050 students. Hostel No. 6 is the biggest and caters to the greatest number of students. The quality and size of the rooms differ. Each room can inhabit 2-4 students and is supplied with needed comfortable life equipment such as cable TV, free Wi-Fi, permanent heating, and water supplied. The bathroom is shared and divided into several rooms.
Also in the Saint Petersburg Pediatric Medical University student hostel, there are common kitchens, student gyms, laundries, and security. The Saint Petersburg Pediatric Medical University is surrounded by several supermarkets and clothes shops, for food groceries, and other important stuff. Also, there are bus stops nearby. Entrance to the hostel is allowed on the bases of hostel passes. A pass is issued to the student upon arrival at the hostel.
