Siberian State University of Physical Culture and Sports
General Information
The Siberian State University of Physical Culture and Sport shortly named SibGUFK, is a university located in Omsk, Russia. The university was founded in 1950 and originally named Omsk State Institute of Physical Culture. University provides study courses and educational programs leading to legally recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees.
In 2003 it has got the status of a higher institution. During the all years of work, the university has trained about 40,000 local and international students, among which there are more than 50 winners and medalists of The Olympic Games. Currently, University enrolled more than 8,500 local and international students to study technical sciences, mechanical engineering, and IT science. Students have the option of studying undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, and doctoral studies at quality Russian universities.
This 90-year-old Russian university has a rigorous admissions process based on entrance exams and applicants’ previous academic records and ratings. Students from all around the world are invited to apply for admission. University also offers students a library, accommodation, sports facilities, study abroad and exchange programs, and administrative services, among other academic and non-academic facilities and services.

Accommodation and Housing
The student dormitory has a perfect location: grocery stores, cafés, and restaurants with Russian and international cuisine are within walking distance. All city attractions, museums, theaters, and historic places are either within walking distance or easy transportation from the dormitory.
The dormitory is a corridor-type residential building with shared facilities. One room usually accommodates three or four roommates. Entrances to the building are equipped with video surveillance and security posts. The students will also be supplied with a high-speed internet facility, modern TV, and computers in the hostel. All modern amenities are available to international students at the University – pillows, blankets, bedsheets, beds, tables, chairs, etc.
