About University
Stavropol State Medical University is a state higher educational institution in Stavropol city of the Russian Federation. Stavropol State Medical University was organized in 1937 as Voroshilov (Now Stavropol) State Medical Institute. In 1938 Voroshilov State Medical Institute began medical classes in the first year of the medical faculty. In 1937 Voroshilov State Medical Institute was renamed Stavropol Medical Institute. In 1994 Stavropol Medical Institute became Stavropol State Medical Academy and in 2013 Stavropol State Medical Academy received University status and start to provide medical education in Russia.
Today 72 medical study departments of the Stavropol State Medical University work with more than 50 highly qualified doctors, 274 candidates in sciences, and more than 180 qualified teachers. Among the teachers, were 20 members of various international academies and Medical Scientists, and 28 distinguished physicians of the Russian Federation. Since its formation, Stavropol State Medical University has trained over 29,000 qualified specialists in medical science, dental science, pharmacy science, and nursing science.
StSMU is looking to maximize the list of several medical education programs including specialty, second higher education, graduate medical programs, undergraduate medical programs, postgraduate medical courses, doctoral courses, and continuing education programs. From now onwards, secondary specialized education is also available.
The University has modernized computer classes, an internet center, a modern library with 500,000 copies of books and periodicals, its own newspaper ‘Medicus’, and a scientific practice magazine. Lecture rooms, medical laboratories, and university libraries do not limit a student’s life and are available for every student. The University has 4 student hostels, and a sports complex with a swimming pool, gym, and sauna. There is a sports camp on the Black Sea coast of the North Caucasus, where the teachers and students have a camp every year.
Recognition
Stavropol State Medical University is officially recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools published by the World Health Organization. Due to the global recognition of medical degrees in Russia, the graduated students from Stavropol State Medical University are enabled to practice in any country across the globe. The students are encouraged to participate in various research projects, and annual medical conferences and often win prizes in all-Russian or international contests.
Stavropol State Medical University provides free coaching for clearing the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMCG) screening test organized by the representative director of A.G Trust educational consultancy. The staff members of the medical university are highly dedicated and experienced in providing a high standard of medical education to the students. Students can also participate in national festivals and parties at Stavropol State Medical University.

Accommodation
SSMU has 4 student hostels to accommodate all its international students. Separate rooms and blocks for boys and girls are available in each hostel building. Every student can choose 3 or 4 bedded rooms as per the availability. Several facilities like a student gym, a swimming pool, and a SPA complex are available for the hostel residents. In addition to this, the security of the students is always at the top of the priority list. The university helps Indian residents to celebrate their festivals in the student hostels.
Students can either avail themselves of the mess facilities or can prepare their national food in the common kitchens. Kitchens are available on each floor of the hostel and can be used on a sharing basis. Reception, laundry rooms, cleaning and washing personnel, reading room, and computer hall are always available for every hostel resident. The cost of living in Russia can be completely affordable and can also make it a comfortable place to live in.
About City
Stavropol the city and administrative center of Stavropol, southwestern Russia, is situated on the Stavropol Upland near the source of the Grachovka River. Today Stavropol’s main importance is in processing farm produce from its fertile hinterland, especially flour milling, winemaking, and meat-packing; machine building, chemical industries, and clothing industries. An attractive city with tree-lined streets laid out on a grid pattern, Stavropol has medical institutes, agricultural institutes, linguistic institutes, teacher-training institutes, and a research institute for sheep and goat husbandry.
Some of the favorite tourist places in Stavropol are Park Pobedy, Central Park of Culture and Leisure, Stavropol Botanical Garden, and Stavropol’skiy Botanicheskiy Garden.
