About University
Tula State University is the largest public university in Central Russia. Tula State University was established in 1930 as Tula Mechanical Institute. Tula State University prepares graduates for military professions, technical specialties, mining and construction specialties, computer information specialties, natural sciences studies, economic studies, legal studies, social sciences, humanitarian sciences, and medical sciences. Medical Institute is a subdivision of the University, that conducts studying MBBS and research processes in medicine and healthcare sciences.
Education at Tula State University Medical Institute is conducted on full-time courses, part-time courses, and correspondence courses. Tula State University consists of 13 medical faculties, a medical institute, a center of pre-university studies, a regional center for professional development, and 73 medical departments where more than 1,200 teachers, including 237 doctors, professors, and 717 associate professors are working. Today, Tula State University has more than 18,000 students, 434 Bachelor courses students, 18 Doctoral courses students, 97 residents, and 92 interns. In the past 84 years, Tula State University has trained 45,000 specialists in the field of Medicine and Healthcare.

Last week, in the Central House of Scientists in Moscow, the Department of Faculty Therapy was named after Academician A.I. Nesterov RNIMU. N.I. Pirogov of the Ministry of Health of Russia held the VI Scientific and Practical Conference “Nesterov.
The university scientific library contains more than 1.5 million books. There are several reading halls, an Internet room, and a digital library. A laboratory of computer technologies has started e-books and virtual laboratory projects have been created by the faculty members and students of the university.
In 2005 the university was awarded the Certificate of Honor by the President of the Russian Federation for its contribution to the medical education of specialists and the development of healthcare science. In 2007 TSU received the Russian Federation Government Award for Education.
The university staff headed by rector Mikhail Gryazev received a State Award for the project called Regional University Educational and Pedagogical Complex of Innovative Educational Technologies Used in Training Specialists for High-technological Production in the Defense Industry. Alexander Agubechirovich Khadartsev, the director of the Medical Institute, received a State Award for the scientific research called The Use of Neuron Network Technologies in the Educational Process.

About City
Tula is one of the oldest cities in Russia. The climate of Tula is moderately continental with distinct seasons. It is characterized by warm, long summers and moderately cold winters with frequent thaws. The territory of the city is crossed or passed in close proximity by important highways of federal significance and railways. Public transport in Tula is represented by buses, minibusses, trolleybuses, and trams. Tula is a large industrial center and commercial center in Russia. The leading industries are ferrous metallurgy, machine building, and metalworking.
Tula is known for three activities of local residents rooted deep in the history of the city: the production of weapons, samovars, and gingerbread. Each of them is represented in the city by the Museum of Weapons, the Museum of Samovars, and the Museum of Tula Gingerbread. The center of Tula is Lenin Square located near the Tula Kremlin. The main street of the city is Lenin Avenue – the busiest street in the city with a lot of educational institutions, a drama theater, a philharmonic society, monuments to various cultural figures, monuments dedicated to the Second World War, various shops, restaurants, cafes, and supermarkets. Celebrations, parades, and processions are held here.
