About City
Vladivostok is a city and administrative center of Primorsky Krai, located in the far east of Russia around the Golden Horn Bay. The city is famous for its harbor location. It is the home port of the Russian Pacific Fleet and is the final stop on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Fishing and ship engineering are its primary industries, alongside energy production and food production.
Vladivostok is the largest Russian port on the Pacific Ocean, and the chief cultural center, economical center, scientific center, and tourism heart of the Russian Far East. As the terminus of the Trans-Siberian Railway, the city was visited by over three million tourists in 2017. The city is the administrative center of the Far Eastern Federal District and is the home to the headquarters of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy.
Sometimes described as “Russia’s San Francisco“, and greatly reminiscent of Anchorage, Alaska, when in winter, Vladivostok is literally closer to the west coast of the United States than it is to Moscow. Despite this fact, elements of the Asian culture inherited from the city’s nearest neighbors can be observed even during a simple walk down the streets, when at the same time the architecture leaves no doubt that this is a Russian city.
The most beautiful sightseeing is the light and music fountain, located in front of the Opera and Ballet Theater. The city is full of attractions for young people and international students such as modern museums, Indian restaurants, Asian restaurants, Russian restaurants, food stores, art galleries, cinemas, and recreation areas.
