About University 

Yaroslavl State Medical University is a non-profit state higher medical educational institution established in 1944. University offers advanced and sophisticated medical education to both local and international students. This esteemed medical education institute for men and women is a regional center in the fields of medical education and medical research, medical skills training, pharmaceutical studies, para-medicine studies, and healthcare studies.

Yaroslavl State Medical University was established when Belarus Medical Institute was transferred to Yaroslavl city from Minsk due to World War II. University is a center of higher medical education and medical research in Yaroslavl city and the Yaroslavl region. At present Yaroslavl State Medical University has more than 4,500 students from 34 different countries. Till now 23000 students have graduated from Yaroslavl State Medical University. 

The studying process at University is conducted by highly qualified professionals from famous medical institutions and study hospitals in Russian regions and abroad. Today Yaroslavl State Medical University has 6 medical study faculties, more than 60 medical study departments, and a qualified academic staff consisting of 860 skilled professionals in medical science.

The university uses the latest medical technology to provide medical education to students. All classrooms of the university are digitally equipped with projectors and LEDs. The university consists of a big university library with two reading halls and facilities that are equipped in terms of use of databases and Internet resources. Yaroslavl State Medical University has good social facilities and structures such as a student healthcare center, a garden of medical plants, sports centers, five student hostels, and the Volga River summer camp.

In 8 medical educational buildings of the University, there are modern educational auditoriums and medical laboratories, 13 computer classes, the fundamental university library with more than 500,000 books, and administrative units. The work of clinical departments is carried out in the basic city and regional medical organizations and pharmaceutical organizations based on agreements on joint activities. To prepare pharmacists, the University has a modern educational and production pharmacy plant in Skobykino. The social base of the university includes 5 dormitories, canteens for staff and students, educational and sports building.

Recognition 

The medical university is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) which means students can easily give the MCI screening test and practice medicine in India. It also gained recognition from the World Health Organization (WHO). University provides Globally Recognized Courses in Medical Science (approved in Europe, the UK, the USA, Asia, and Africa). The medical degree of Yaroslavl State Medical University is recognized by WHO, UNESCO, PLAB (the UK), USMLE (the USA), MCI, PMDC, and other International Organizations throughout the EU.

University offers undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, and doctoral programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as Pre-Bachelor Degrees in Medicine (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), Bachelor Degrees in Medicine, Master Degrees in Medicine, and Doctorate Degrees in Medicine.

Accommodation

​​Yaroslavl State Medical University offers the best accommodation facilities along with basic amenities required for international students. All accommodations for students are supplied with the necessary furniture and bedding. Regular power, water supply, permanent Wi-Fi, cable TV, and heating for students’ comfort. All modern amenities like pillows, blankets, bedsheets, beds, tables, chairs, etc. are provided in every bedroom.

The student hostel has a student library, healthcare center, sports center, and a beautiful garden with free access to all hostel residents. Well-sanitized cafeterias and common kitchens give students the ability to cook their national dishes or eat something tasty in the canteen. All food is cooked in hygienic conditions. The hostel has 24 hours under CCTV surveillance and security.

About City 

Yaroslavl was founded in 1010 by Prince Yaroslav the Wise. Yaroslavl was not only a developed commercial and crafts center but also a center of culture. The development of book learning, the spread of Russian education and a high literacy rate in different layers of society, the development of local chronicle writing, formation of Russian architectural and artistic traditions determined the economic and cultural blossom of the city on the Volga. The climate in Russia is moderately continental. Winters in Yaroslavl are relatively cold and snowy, lasting more than five months. 

Yaroslavl is one of the few provincial cities in Russia, in the development of which all the main directions of Russian architecture of the 16th-20th centuries are represented. In total, about 800 architectural monuments have been preserved in this city. The historical center of Yaroslavl, on the territory of which there are about 140 architectural monuments, is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Its buildings are an outstanding example of the mutual cultural and architectural influence between Western Europe and Russia.

The most beautiful sightseeing is the light and music fountain, located in front of the Opera and Ballet Theater. The city is full of attractions for young people and international students such as modern museums, Indian restaurants, Asian restaurants, Russian restaurants, food stores, art galleries, cinemas, and recreation areas.
