Gorno-Altaisk State University is a classic university in the region of Gorno-Altaisk (Altai Republic) of Russian Federation. Gorno-Altaisk State University is one of the largest university in the Gorno-Altaisk region which was founded in 1949 as a Teacher’s Training Institute. In 1993 by the order of the Order of the Russian Federation State Committee for Higher Education, Gorno-Altaisk Pedagogical Institute was merged with Gorno-Altaisk Zooveterinary College (Agricultural College) and received the status of state university and became Gorno-Altaisk State University. At present Gorno-Altaisk State University trains students in 30 specialties. Currently educational process in Gorno-Altaisk State University is conducted in 54 departments under the highly skilled pedagogical staff of 620 professors, doctors and candidate of science. Every year Gorno-Altaisk State University enrolls approximately 3400 students. In 1993 Gorno-Altaisk State University has trained 25000 professionals and specialists.
