General Information
Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation is one of the famous universities in the Aviation Industry located in Saint Petersburg. Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation was established in 1941 as the Leningrad Institute of Aviation.
SUAI trains international students and local students of Undergraduate courses, Postgraduate courses, and Doctoral levels of education. The University has world-class scientific research teams, modern educational programs for priority research fields and critical technologies, and lasting productive connections with Russian and international high-technology industries.
The first year of Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation was started with 1,200 students in the fields of aerospace engineering and aviation. Today Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation consists of 6 study institutes, 13 study faculties, and 40 study departments. They aim to train highly qualified and competent specialists capable of developing advanced technologies and modern industries.
The University has a teaching staff of 670 highly qualified professionals. Every year Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation enrolls 2,000 prominent students in all levels of the studying process. Till now Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation has trained more than 45,000 specialists.
International Cooperation
For several years Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation has been cooperating with the Union of Young Professionals and became the first participant in the FutureSkills conference in St. Petersburg aimed at advanced training and the creation of promising professions. Right now, Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation is the leader in the number of emerging professions of the future and advanced WorldSkills competencies. Mobile Robotics, Business Software Solutions, Space Systems Engineering, Internet Marketing, Internet of Things, Corporate Protection Against Internal Security Threats, and many other competencies are being actively developed at the University.
SUAI is a member of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme and is a part of the UNESCO Chairs Partnership in the field of information and communication technology in education and innovative pedagogy. The UNESCO Chair “Distant education in engineering” has been successfully operating in SUAI. Over the years, the University has been participating in ERASMUS and FIRST mobility programs. We are developing a joint “Embedded Systems” Master’s Degree Program with IPSA (Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority).

Accommodation and Housing
University provides all its international students with renovated accommodation. The dormitory has a perfect location near a vast amount of food stores, cafés, and restaurants with Russian cuisine and international cuisine within walking distance. All city attractions, museums, theaters, and historic places are either within walking distance or easy transportation from the dormitory. Every room is equipped with modern beds with linens, writing desks, wardrobes or closets, free Internet connection, and cable TV.
The student dormitory is a corridor-type residential building with shared facilities. One room usually accommodates three or four roommates. Entrances to the building are equipped with video surveillance and security posts. The dormitory is supplied with self-service laundry (in the basement), shared kitchens (on each floor), and shared bathrooms.
