Tyumen State Oil and Gas University
General Information
The Surgut Institute of Oil and Gas is the training and counseling center of the Ural Polytechnic Institute opened in Tyumen in 1956 which was further part of the Tyumen Industrial Institute. It happened in 1963 when the fast development of resources in Western Siberia began. In 1963 the decision to create the profile higher education institution training experts for an oil and gas complex of Siberia in Tyumen was made.
Today higher education institutions study more than 35,000 students in all undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, and doctoral studies. The leading technical higher education institution of Western Siberia offers 36 study directions of preparation according to programs of higher education (bachelor’s degree, specialist program), 31 directions of master’s degree program, 37 specialties of secondary professional education, 14 programs of professional training in working professions and 8 directions of study in postgraduate study.
University provides full-time studying and part-time studying in undergraduate courses in Russia, postgraduate courses in Russia, and doctoral studies in Russia. It is the top-ranked technical university in Russia, which gives its students the option of taking part in academic mobility programs and internships abroad.

Accommodation and Housing
The University is proud of its modern dormitory housing 1100 people. Every section has two cozy rooms, a kitchen, a shower, and a bathroom. The hostel for international students is located in the center of the city 30mtr from the University’s main building. The hostel has well-equipped rooms with all modern facilities for 3 seater big rooms, upgraded comforts, and central heating.
Reception, laundry, cleaning and washing personnel, reading room, and computer hall are always available for every hostel resident. The cost of living in Russia can be completely affordable and can also make it a comfortable place to live in.
