Transbaikal State University
General Information
Transbaikal State University is an institution of higher education in Chita, Russia. It is the largest educational, scientific, and innovative center in Zabaykalsky Krai. Transbaikal State University was established in 1974 on the basis of the Technology Department of Irkutsk Technical Institute which was opened earlier in 1966.
The university has good material and technical base, 7 renovated academic buildings, a culture center and art center, a university sports complex, a health center, a canteen, and a student dormitory. The scientific and technical library of the University is the second in the Kamchatka region in the size of book stock. It services access to the Internet and to the Russian State Library.
At present, University is the main educational, scientific, and cultural center of the region. University academic staff consists of more than 1,000 prominent teachers and lecturers including 47 doctors and professors, and 250 philosophy doctors. More than 14,000 students have the opportunity to get a quality higher degree in Russian technical university and become a member of a strong international students community in Russia.

University offers comfortable hostel rooms on a sharing basis for students of the same gender. Common hostel facilities for students include shared kitchen space for self-cooking, laundry, internet, cooling, and heating system. For all migration-related issues, students can take help from the Center for International Education.
The hostel provides all needed facilities for students such as modern furniture, changed bedding, TV, free Wi-Fi, reading rooms, studying rooms, a hostel library, a common kitchen, and separate bathrooms and toilets.
