General Information
Altai State Agrarian University (ASAU) is one of the largest higher institutions in the country. It was founded in 1943. The University trains specialists in agriculture, economics, and natural sciences. It provides students with the opportunity to get quality Russian degrees in full-time courses and extramural courses.
The university focuses on the personal and professional development of students and academic staff, increasing their level of employment and mobility. To achieve this goal priority is given to joint scientific research activities with foreign universities and scientific organizations, joint international publications, qualification upgrading of research and teaching staff through academic and internship programs abroad, and the participation of post-graduate students and undergraduate students in international scientific and academic programs to study natural sciences abroad.
The University entered agreements on international cooperation in the field of education and research with thirteen universities and scientific organizations in Germany, Mongolia, India, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine.
The researchers of the University are involved in joint international research projects and grant programs. An example is the research project “The Impact of Climate Change on Agricultural Ecosystems of the Altai Region, Russia” jointly implemented the Michigan State University, USA. The project was funded by a grant from the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CDRF) and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.

Accommodation and Housing
University provides its students with renovated apartments in the same city center, near all needed for comfortable living facilities. The dormitory has a perfect location near grocery stores, cafés, and restaurants with Russian and international cuisine within walking distance. All city attractions, museums, theaters, and historic places are either within walking distance or easy transportation from the dormitory. The dormitory also is conveniently located in terms of going to and from the airport, either by taxi or via the metro.
The dormitory is a corridor-type residential building with shared facilities. One room usually accommodates three or four roommates. Entrances to the building are equipped with video surveillance and security posts. Every room fully has modern furniture and technical equipment, such as central heating and air conditioning systems, permanent Wi-Fi, and cable TV.
