The first four years of full time university study leads to a Bachelor’s degree. The completion of the course requires a research project and passing the state final exams. The Bachelor’s degree is awarded after four years of study in all fields except Medicine, where the first stage lasts for six years. With the Bachelor’s degree graduates have significantly better career prospects in various fields, and international students can choose to continue the postgraduate education. As an international student is  getting a Bachelor’s degree, it is not only an opportunity to achieve excellence in university studies, but also to get an exciting cultural experience.

Once students have obtained their Bachelor’s degree, they are eligible for the entry into a Specialist Diploma and Master’s degree program. Specialist degrees are awarded after a minimum of five years of study and are more focused on practical education in a student’s chosen field. Both qualifications require students to successfully defend a Thesis and pass examinations. Master’s degrees are awarded after two years of study with one year conducting research which includes practice and preparation for a Thesis presentation. The Master’s degree is awarded after two years of study whereof one is a year of research including practice, preparation and Thesis presentation. In addition, you must also pass the final exams. The Master’s degree is available across various fields of study, including Arts, Business, Engineering and Technology, Law, Humanities, Social Sciences, Biological and Life Sciences, and the Natural Sciences. Within each of those fields of study, numerous practical specialisations are available within particular disciplines.

A Master’s degree qualifies the student to enter postgraduate education. Postgraduate education is obtained at a university or scientific institute and usually results in a Candidate of Sciences degree. It is roughly equivalent to a Doctor of Philosophy (or PhD) and is usually awarded after completing extensive research in a specified field of study. A PhD degree usually takes a minimum of 3 years to complete, but sometimes longer depending on the student, university, and program.
