General Information

Polzunov Altai State Technical University is the leading technological and scientific university of the Altai region that was established in February 1942. Altai State Technical University (AltSTU) is one of the top-ranked universities in the city of Barnaul, Altai Krai, Russia, and is among the largest institutions of higher technical education in Russia.

The University offers full-time studies in Russia, part-time studies in Russia, extramural courses, and distance instruction. Students can receive technical degrees in Bachelor’s courses, Master’s courses, and specialist degrees (per the old system of five-year study). Post-graduate technical courses are also offered.

University facilities include seven well-equipped academic buildings, renovated student hostels, a large technical science library, a computing center, a publishing house, student clubs, a theater (the Kaleidoscope Student Theatre), a preventive clinic, as well as a skiing lodge, a private swimming pool, and a university sports club and university rest camp.

Polzunov Altai State Technical University also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including options of studying abroad, taking part in exchange programs, visiting online courses and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.

Polzunov Altai State Technical University includes two study branches – Biysk Technological Institute and Rubtsovsk Industrial Institute, 10 representative offices, 17 territorial resource centers, 6 technical study institutes, 6 study faculties, 49 study departments, and a college. The university provides training in 84 technical specialties and technical areas of study. Altai State Technical University remains the only university in Altai State where military training is conducted.

Accommodation and Housing 

The University is proud of its modern dormitory housing 1100 people. Every section has two cozy rooms, a kitchen, a shower, and a bathroom. The hostel for international students is located in the center of the city 30mtr from the University’s main building. The hostel has well-equipped rooms with all modern facilities for 3 seater big rooms, upgraded comforts, and central heating

Reception, laundry, cleaning and washing personnel, reading room, and computer hall are always available for every hostel resident. The cost of living in Russia can be completely affordable and can also make it a comfortable place to live in.
