Bashkir State University
General Information
Bashkir State University is a classic university in the city of Ufa of the Russian Federation which is also considered to be the first institution of Bashkortostan and one of the founders of the Association of Russian classical universities. Bashkir State University was established in 1909 as the Ufa Teacher Training Institute, and in 1919 Ufa Teacher Training Institute was transformed into the Ufa Institute of Education. In 1929 Ufa Institute of Education was established as Bashkir State Pedagogical Institute.
In 1857 Bashkir State Pedagogical Institute received state university status and became Bashkir State University. For more than 100 years Bashkir State University has prepared highly qualified specialists for the different areas of the economy. In recent years Bashkir State University has become a major center for postgraduate education, which successfully operates 67 post-graduate courses and doctoral studies in 10 scientific specialties.
The university faculty consists of famous specialists who are involved in teaching, medical and scientific activities. BSU possesses material and technical resources, training facilities, and large library stock. Thanks to the international summits of SCO (Shangai Cooperation Organization) and BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), which were held in the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan in 2015, Ufa became a new congress center of Russia. Summits gave impetus to the development of international cooperation with China, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, and strengthened cooperation with leading universities in Germany. Nowadays, university students, physicians, and professors are being integrated into international practice, our scientists are conducting joint research on topical problems of medicine.
At present Bashkir State University consists of 14 study faculties, 4 study institutes, as well as study branches in the cities of Sibai, Sterlitamak, Neftekamsk, and in Uchaly. The educational process at Bashkir State University is carried out in 105 study departments by more than 1,000 prominent lecturers, including 161 Ph.D., 477 candidates of sciences, 111 professors, and 283 associate professors.

Accommodation and Housing
University`s Student Hostel is fully equipped with needed modern technologies and has a convenient location. Every hostel resident can enjoy a true Russian culture while visiting restaurants with a variety of cuisines, museums, art galleries, concert halls, and other interesting places. Students have free access to a dining room, a leisure room with areas for self-study, a TV room, a small library, and a game console.
All rooms are shared between 2-4 students and are fully supplied with all needed furniture and modern technologies. Every room has a permanent Wi-Fi connection, a system of central heating, air conditioning, and a permanent electricity supply. The rooms are equipped with beds, desks, chairs, and wall shelves for each student. Wardrobes and shoe racks located in the hallway are shared by the students living in the unit as well as a refrigerator. Blankets, pillows, and bed sheets are also provided to students.
