General Information
The Russian University of Transport, officially the Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education “Russian University of transport” is a public university founded in 1896 and headquartered in Moscow, Russia. Along with its main campus located in the capital, the university maintains one other regional campus in Sochi. RUT is a leading transport educational institution and hosts the biggest university complex in Moscow, Russia. RUT is under the governance of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.
University is one of the leading Russian technical universities conducting top-level research and educational process in applied mathematics, physics studies, electronics studies, IT, and robotics courses. Today, the university trains specialists to work in high-tech industries by providing a full-cycle higher education through its undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, and doctoral programs. Project-oriented educational programs provide students with the opportunity to participate in international research and study activity.
University provides Bachelor’s programs, Master’s programs, and Postgraduate programs for Russian students and develops advanced Master’s programs with English medium of instruction. Students and teaching staff at University are involved in a variety of research activities and grant programs in Russian universities and universities abroad.

Accommodation and Housing
University has several dormitories at its disposal, all conveniently located either within the limits of its student town or next to the metro stations in Moscow. All campuses of the University are also located within walking distance of the metro stations. Students and staff are welcome to use sporting facilities free of charge. The sports center consists of a full-size basketball court, a gym with a variety of workout equipment, and a climbing wall.
University aims at providing maximum comfort to the students. The hostel rooms are designed such that 2-3 students can share one room. The rooms are equipped with air-conditioning and a centralized heating system. Student hostels have convenient locations near the city center. The local markets and other amenities are easily accessible to the students.
