National Research Nuclear University (MEPhI) “Moscow Engineering Physics Institute”
General Information
National Research Nuclear University was founded in 1942. Its original mission was to train skilled personnel for the Soviet military and Soviet atomic bomb project. It was renamed the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute in 1953. Currently, University’s main aim is to prepare highly skilled specialists in the field of nuclear physics, technical engineering, nanoengineering, and cyber intelligence systems.
University provides Bachelor’s programs, Master’s programs, and Postgraduate programs for Russian students and develops advanced Master’s programs with English medium of instruction. Students and teaching staff at University are involved in a variety of research activities and grant programs in Russian universities and universities abroad.
University provides studying processes for local and international students from other countries. Due to numerous cooperation agreements with foreign universities and organizations, members of academic staff and students have the opportunity to take part in exchange programs and internships abroad to get new theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
MEPhI faculty and students actively solve complex issues and perform studying activities in high-priority fields. University provides studying process nuclear energy courses, nanotechnology courses, MBBS courses in Russia, IT courses in Russia, and innovation management courses. Newly established Strategic Academic Units (Straus) center the traditional MEPhI departments on pertinent and strategically meaningful concepts to accelerate discoveries that yield significant scientific impacts. MEPhI exports branch campuses to attract students and researchers and collaborate with research partners.

Accommodation and Housing
Every foreign student has the opportunity to live in the student dormitory. It is situated within 15 minutes walk from the University. In total, the university dormitory includes 6 hostel buildings.
Each is equipped with beds, tables, chairs, shelves, and space for shoes and utensils. The living room has a wardrobe. The shared kitchen is equipped with stoves and refrigerators. In the buildings, there is a common laundry and the official free Internet. The residence is surrounded by many restaurants and grocery stores with reasonable prices. There are many cafes, gyms, supermarkets, and pharmacy outlets. Within a radius of 200 meters, there is the medical center and hospital, which serves students and employees.
