General Information
North-Caucasus Federal University was founded based on a Decree by the President of the Russian Federation and an Order by the Government of the Russian Federation. This higher institution is rated as one of the largest educational institutions in the region and also is a unique site for numerous scientific projects and innovation projects. It provides its students with the opportunity to use the most modern studying equipment to conduct scientific research in the field of technical science and power engineering.
In 2021 NCFU become the largest academic institution for higher education in the North-Caucasus Federal District. University is moving ahead being a driving force for the scientific potential and academic potential of the North Caucasus at the same time serving as the basis for economic development as well as an arena for intercultural dialogue both among the various local ethnic groups and foreign ones.
The university comprises 9 study institutes in Stavropol and 2 study institutes (affiliates) in Pyatigorsk and Nevinnomyssk. North-Caucasus Federal University is currently running 156 higher education degree programs in Undergraduate courses, Postgraduate courses, and Doctoral levels of studies, and provides higher degrees in over 700 professional development programs.
NCFU is the only Russian university in the North-Caucasus Federal District to earn a place in the international rankings of QS (Quacquarelli Symonds). It is also rated among the 40 top Russian universities (according to the National university ranking by Interfax). NCFU’s aims and objectives are reflected in the strategic development program for 2012-2022 approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.
Study Programs
The North-Caucasus Federal University comprises ten institutes and two branches in Pyatigorsk and Nevinnomyssk:
- Institute of Humanities;
- Institute of Mathematics and Natural Sciences;
- Institute of Life Sciences;
- Institute of Law;
- Institute of Economics and Management;
- Institute of Education and Social Sciences;
- Institute of Oil and Gas;
- Institute of Information Technologies and Telecommunications;
- Institute of Engineering
These divisions all together comprise 99 departments.
Accommodation and Housing
The University offers a block-type Student Dormitory for international students in which all the students enjoy the shared bathrooms and shared lavatories in each section. Each floor is equipped with two separate kitchen rooms and all needed supplies. Rooms are supplied with free Wi-Fi, cable TV, permanent heating, and air conditioning.
There are normally two or three students staying in each room. Rooms for two and three persons are usually offered to bachelor students. The University pays much attention to students’ safety. The Dormitory №3 is equipped with CCTV camera video systems, which are installed on each floor, including the lobby and the main entrance to the dormitory, which enables the guards to monitor visually both, from inside and outside of the building to track those living in the Dorm 24/7.
