North Western Open Technical University
General Information
North-Western Open Technical University is focused on training specialists in full-time courses, evening courses, and correspondence forms of education. The university was located in the city of St. Petersburg, Russian Federation. In 2011, it was abolished in the form of joining St. Petersburg State Mining University.
The university was established in 1930. It is accredited by the Committee on Science and Higher Education of Saint Petersburg. University provides quality Russian education in courses of power engineering, courses of machine-building, courses of management information systems, courses of radio electronics, courses of production automation, courses of automotive and industrial transport, and courses of chemical technology and metallurgy. A high-quality studying process is conducted in 37 study departments by prominent members of the academic staff.
University provides studying processes for local and international students from other countries. Due to numerous cooperation agreements with foreign universities and organizations, members of academic staff and students have the opportunity to take part in exchange programs and internships abroad to get new theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Accommodation and Housing
The dormitories are located within a minute’s walk from all the university facilities and academic buildings. There are two main choices of accommodation for international students. The first type is where the rooms are grouped into flats which are fully equipped with all the necessities. All the rooms have private bathrooms and kitchens. The second type is the block system with a shared toilet and shower and kitchen on the floor. All types of dormitories have high-speed internet access.
