Omsk State University of Transport and Railway Transport

General Information 

Omsk State Transport University is a university in Omsk, Russia. It was established in 1961. Today OSTU is a multi-disciplinary higher education institution providing training in a wide range of higher education study programs with a period of 4 years for obtaining a bachelor`s degree, master`s degree, and doctoral degree.

The university has an imposing personnel’s potential. There are 300 qualified lecturers in it. More than 60 of them are academicians and associate members, State prize and Russia’s Government prize laureates, and Honored Scientists are among the professors of the university and there are 68 Ph. Ds. Some leading specialists ( including 24 Ph. Ds) of various branches of industry work at the university and provide quality educational processes.

University provides a studying process at the 6 study faculties and 52 study departments, well-equipped laboratories, a research institute, a computer center, a large university library, and 2 university museums in it. The training for 32 technical and humanity specialties is carried out. 

University provides a studying process for more than 5,000 students. All of them have the options of full-time studying and correspondence studying on undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, and doctoral courses in Russia. There is a postgraduate course for 19 study specialties. Students working on a doctor’s degree and postgraduate degree can present their thesis to the Scientific Board of the university.

Accommodation and Housing

Over 7,000 students from other cities and countries live in dormitories on the University campus. All dormitories are situated not far from the academic buildings of the university and underground stations. The campus is divided into 3 complexes of student dormitories.

All buildings are equipped with access control systems and emergency voice alarm communication systems. The majority of dormitories have interior and exterior video surveillance systems.  Hostels are enabled with trained, educated, and full-time security guards and security wardens. Everybody can feel safe and comfortable in the dorm territory. The students will also be supplied with a high-speed internet facility, modern TV, and computers in the hostel.
