Orel State Technical University

General Information
Orel State Technical University is a university in the Central Federal district of Russia in the city of Oryol which is the Administrative center of Oryol Oblast (or Orel region). OSU opened in 1931 as an Industrial-Pedagogical Institute. Today OSU is a member of Association of the Classical Universities of Russia and is the best place to study technical sciences in Russia and get a higher degree in Russia.
The structure of the University is represented by 3 university branches (Karachev, Livny, and Mtsensk), 12 study institutes, and 13 study faculties. There are 297 educational programs to study in engineering courses, IT courses, biotechnology courses, computer science courses, and courses in mechanical engineering. The academic staff consists of more than 940 doctors and candidates for science teaching. About 19,000 local and international students from 55 countries get quality education at Russian University. More than 4,000 students have graduated annually. Almost a third of the students graduate with an honors degree.
Students of OSTU lead an active creative and sports life. At the university, there are various theatrical, vocal, and dance studios, as well as 20 sports sections. Sport is an integral part of student life. It includes sports teams of the university on football, mini-football, basketball, and volleyball, and works with individual athletes. Women’s mini-football team, men’s football team, women’s basketball team, and men’s volleyball team achieved high results in sports.
University provides studying processes for local and international students from other countries. Due to numerous cooperation agreements with foreign universities and organizations, members of academic staff and students have the opportunity to take part in exchange programs and internships abroad to get new theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Accommodation and Housing
Heads of dormitories and the Student Board (student autonomous body) carry out character building in dormitories according to the complex plan, which includes the creation of necessary conditions for living, self-education, life and recreation, well-being, and allows to host mass cultural events and recreative sports, recreation evenings, literary soirees, dispute, mindset training, meetings with interesting people, etc.
The hostel provides all needed facilities for students such as modern furniture, changed bedding, TV, free Wi-Fi, reading rooms, studying rooms, a hostel library, a common kitchen, and separate bathrooms and toilets. Hostels are under 24/7 CCTV surveillance, so every student can feel safe and comfortable. Wi-Fi connectivity is accessible 24/7 to make studying and resting more useful.
