Udmurt State University

General Information

Udmurt State University is a public university in the city of Izhevsk, Russia. Established in 1931, UdSU is the oldest educational institution in Udmurt Republic. In 1993, it was named among the top twenty classical Russian universities and became the best place to study technical sciences and study humanities in Russia.

Today UdSU is the biggest educational, research, and cultural center of the Udmurt Republic. It offers over 270 undergraduate programs, postgraduate programs, and doctoral programs in the Humanities, Technical Sciences, and Engineering courses. It provides the studying process for over 17,000 undergraduate students and postgraduate students, including over 500 international students.

Since 2011 UdSU jointly with the University of Granada (Spain) has been implementing a joint study program for gaining a double Bachelor’s degree in Philology (Russian and Spanish).  University’s main aim is to increase the level of education among young persons in Russia and abroad, making higher education in Russia affordable and quality, and giving their students opportunities for employment with the most popular international organizations and Russian state bodies. Students have the option of receiving quality education within the 100 main areas of engineering,  technical science, social sciences, and humanity science

Accommodation and Housing 

The University has 5 student hostels, 4 canteens, and 7 buffets. During the period of studies at the University each student is provided with a room in a student’s hostel which is equipped with good furniture, appropriate maintenance service, kitchens, shower rooms, and other places of common for some extra charge. In the hostels, the passing by regime functions, and the appropriate protection is ensured.

A place in a comfortable hostel room with a TV set, a telephone, and a refrigerator is provided. Reception, laundry, cleaning and washing personnel, reading room, and computer hall are always available for every hostel resident. Every hostel resident can use every common room in the building, including the library, gym, canteen, and resting rooms. All rooms are well-furnished and ready to use at every time and day.  Entrances to the building are equipped with video surveillance and security posts. Every room fully has modern furniture and technical equipment, such as central heating and air conditioning systems, permanent Wi-Fi, and cable TV.
