About University
Altai State Medical University is one of the prestigious medical universities in the Russian Federation. Altai State Medical University is located in the city of Barnaul. Altai State Medical University was created in 1954 by the Government of the USSR as Altai Medical Institute to study MBBS in Russia. At the time Altai State Medical Institute became a solid foundation of excellence with higher medical education in the West Siberian region to study medicine, study dentistry, study pharmacy, study healthcare, and study pediatrics in Russia.
In 1994 by order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Altai State Medical Institute has renamed the Altai State Medical University. Today, Altai State Medical University is one of the leading higher medical educational institutions in Western Siberia that make great emphasis on the innovative scientific development of medical science and healthcare fields. The desire of the university to meet modern trends of state policy in the field of innovation in science and technology is the basis of the successful implementation of scientific projects by AGMU scientists.
Altai State Medical University is actively involved in the implementation of innovative projects in the field of basic and clinical research. AGMU scientists’ initiatives receive recognition at the federal and international levels of medical education. Development of the resource base and the significant potential of medical research projects define the vector of development of the modern medical university.
The studying MBBS at Altai State Medical University is conducted in 58 medical study departments. Altai State Medical University enrolled more than 4,000 students including 180 interns, 300 residents, and 100 students in post-graduate courses. Altai State Medical University not only trains doctors for primary health care but also has specialized medical centers and federal centers of high-tech medical care. Altai State Medical University employs more than 100 doctors and 350 candidates in sciences, that are ready to assist students in all issues concerning study activity or research projects.
Altai State Medical University graduates successfully work in many regions of Russia and abroad in more than 15 countries around the world. – Germany, Israel, USA, Canada, Syria, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Africa, and CIS. Altai State Medical University is a medical university recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Accommodation
Altai State Medical University has 5 different well-organized Hostel Campuses. Students get a choice of single rooms and double sharing rooms. The hostels consist of all the necessary items such as shelves, beds, chairs, tables, fans, washing machines, etc. All facilities are available within the student campus itself, including a supermarket, café, university clinic, pharmacy store, etc. The hostel is 24 hours under CCTV surveillance and security. All these facilities are provided at low cost to all students.
The student hostel is close to the main public transport routes, which makes the most important destinations accessible. There are playing and sports grounds, and reading halls which help use our students’ time most efficiently and in an enjoyable way. The hostel is closely linked to ATMs, phone recharge booths, retail shops, and cafeterias. While staying in the hostel, medical students can use the gym, swimming pool, reading rooms, and common areas.
About City
Barnaul is a city with a history of three hundred years, one of the oldest cities of West Siberia, and the biggest city in Altai land. It arose due to the wealth of Altai land – huge reserves of copper ore, which was discovered here by Russian miners.
Barnaul is one of the most important economic centers of Western Siberia. The city’s economy is mainly based on trade and services. The basis of its industrial complex is made up of about 120 large and medium-sized enterprises with 22 thousand of employees. The largest increase in production volumes is shown by enterprises manufacturing vehicles, and equipment, as well as metalworking plants, chemical plants, and processing enterprises.
